About Library
Library is a treasure house of knowledge. And it is considered as the heart of any educational institution. The Library in SRR Govt. Degree College was inaugurated along with the college in July 1956. Then the college was located in the old premises in kharkanagada area, later on it was shifted to present building. The Library was started with great ambition and commitment. In the beginning only it was having 2-3 thousand books covering different subjects. The first Librarian of this college Sri K. Sriranga Rao joined this college on 2nd July, 1956. He was the first UGC Librarian in combined state of Andhra Pradesh. The Principals in the wee days of the college have taken much interest in building the Library. Stalwarts like Sri A.V. Gopal Rao MA (Mathematics), Sri S.S. Barlingay MA, Ph.D., Kavisamrat Vishvanatha Satyanarayana, Sri I.V Chalapathi Rao were the Principals who took much initiative and interest in the growth of the Library.
After Sriranga Rao Librarian, Mr.Rahman, Sri K.Narayana, Sri L.Narsaiah and Sri Varala Anand Gatla Krishna Reddy worked as the Librarians successively. At present Sri K.Surendher is working as a Librarian of this college.
It is said that many number of Professors including the then Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University Sri. Ravada Satyanarayana has borrowed books from this Library. Since then elite of the town, literary personalities and administraters of the district are frequent visitors of the Library.
Library is having an independent building in the college premises. Library consists of a spacious Reading room, Reference Section, e- Library, Textbook Section and Classroom for Mana TV. At present the Library is having two spacious halls for the book stack
Library houses 53421 Books at present and the number increases every year. It covers many broader to minute subjects and contains collection in modern subjects such as Bio-Technology, Information Technology, Microbiology etc.
The Library subscribes to journals, magazines, computer magazines, competitive magazines and newspapers for the students and staff.
E-LIBRARY: Our Library is totally automated with the NEWGENLIB Library Management Software, the total housekeeping operations done through systems only. In E-Library we provided six systems to the patrons each connectivity with LAN and the OPAC(open Public Access Cataloguing System) is available with this user can know the status of the book. Also in E-Library we provided to users to Browse the e-resourses through UGC-INFLIBNET-NLIST each and every department has given their unique ID and Passwords and displayed in the E-Library Notice board. We usually takes orientation classes to group wise to explain how to use the E-Resources and how to use the library facilities.
