NTR Government Degree College for Women, Mahabubnagar was established in the year 1981 with an intention of catering the needs of womens education and their upliftment. It is the 1st Womens Degree College of the District. This institution was started with B.A & B.Com with Telugu Medium with a meager strength of 82 students in the premises of Government Junior College for Girls, but later a separate G+1 RCC building having 55 rooms was constructed in 1.36 acres of land with sincere efforts of CPDC members and Late Sri Rumandla Ramchandraiah Garu MP (RS) who not only contributed Rs. 57.5 Lakhs but also mobilized Rs. 55 Lakhs from other RS members. Now with the RUSA funds under Component-7 06 classrooms are constructed. The building has 61 rooms, Out of them 31 are the Lecture halls 11 are the Laboratories and rest are the Principal Chamber, Office, Library, TSKC/ELL, Physical Education, MANA-TV, NCC, NSS , Students waiting hall, Canteen etc The college got UGC recognition under section 2f, in the year 1983 and 12b, in the year 1991.
