OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT
The purpose of this course is to help students learn the fundamentals of economics and they can apply these concepts to their lives and to the world in which they live. Economic theory is useful and interesting only if it can be applied to understanding actual events in energy sector and policies.The courses equip students with tools that can be applied in areas business, public administration, finance, accounting, consulting, law, journalism, foreign Service, politics, education, and social work etc. Training in economics also helps to prepare those who want to choose teaching economics or social studies on a secondary level.
HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT
Economics has been offered at undergraduate level since inception of the college in the year 2008 and from 2020-21 Post Graduation programme in Economics has been introduced. The institution is affiliated to Osmania University, Hyderabad and hence Economics courses comprise Discipline Specific Course (DSC) and Discipline Specific Elective (DSE) approved by the Board of Studies of Osmania University, Hyderabad under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). Courses include economic theory, statistical methods, and analytical skills, which enable students to identify, understand, and evaluate the economic issues that come across in real life.
