History of the Department
Since 1984, the year of inception of the institution, the Department of English has been very much in action. The department had a single post since 1984.
The college offers one media of instruction – i.e. Telugu in B.A., B.Com & B.Sc. 33 batches of students have successfully completed their graduation and perfected themselves in English, with English has the first language.
Since the inception of the college, the following faculty members excellence for the welfare of the college and students.
The members of the department fully co-operate and have rapport with the students.

Infrastructure and Learning Resources
Central Library
Central library is providing students with a good number of book in English. The Library contains Literature Classics, Grammar Books, Books on Vocabulary, Phrasal Verbs, Personality Development, English text books prescribed Paper – I and Paper – II. The library also providing general knowledge books in English.
Competitive Booksalso available in the Library for the benefit of students.
Departmental Library
A Language library is being maintained in the Department to provide General Books in English for the benefit of the students. Books are available for the staff and students for their ready reference. The books are issued regularly and a register is maintained to that effect. Few literary journals were ordered which would help the students in learning of English.
Consultancy services are being provided for the staff and the students in any area of English like providing books, correction of mistakes, translation of words, etc.
Field Trip to English Language Lab (ELL)

Spoken English classes are being conducted for the students in classrooms as well as English Language Laboratory (ELL). CDs and cassette players are used to impart the knowledge of listening and speaking skills in areas such as stress, pronunciation, accentuation etc to make them meet the challenges of modern life.

Curricular Aspects
The Department has resolved to conduct Personality development classes for the students to face the challenges of the modern age, discussed their academic problems and also try to solve. The department also decided to conduct competitions like Quiz, G.K., Essay Writing ad Elocution periodically to make the students face competitive examinations confidently and also to make the students achieve mastery over the language by using You tube and the other language related websites.
The department also committed to conduct an extension lecture by inviting a subject expert from the neighboring colleges and also from the professors of the Department of English, Osmania University, Hyderabad.
The department also decided to take the students on educational tour to Osmania University Centre for International Programs (OUCIP), The English and Foreign Language University (EFLU), Osmania University (OU), Hyderabad Central University (HCU) after the completion of the syllabus.
English is indispensible for all the students who enter college for higher education. Its importance is felt by the students and they are enthusiastic in enriching their communication skills. The aim of the Department is to enable the students encounter the present day situations confidently and efficiently with their knowledge of English. Hence, the department has taken up several activities to make the students perfect in English.
Seminars
Seminars are conducted in the department of English on various topics. Students are very active at presenting the seminars on the given topics. Marks for the Presentation of Seminar will be uploaded in the University student profile.
Seminar marks are the part of Evaluation.
Group Discussions
Group discussion is one of the important activities in developing the speaking skills of the students.
Assignments
Students have been given assignments which are part of Evaluation Assigment and kept in the department after guiding the students in preparing the assignments for the sake of record.
Quiz
Quiz competitions have been conducted in the department twice in a month on different authors, writers, poets and the authors prescribed for poetry, prose and non-detail lessons and also related to general knowledge for benefit of the students.
Novel Activities
On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, the 5th of September, 2012 certain novel activities have been taken up like Learn a word Everyday to teach the students and the staff a new word everyday in order to fac1ilitate them to learn and improve their vocabulary
Colorful charts of the poems like Parts of Speech ,Life ,Poem by Charlotte Brute, Idioms, Phrasal verbs which were included in their curriculum helped them understand the poems ans Grammar easily and improved their imaginative power. Such activities of teaching made learning easy.
Reading Skills
Modern technological inventions like computers, televisions, Youtube,Whatsapp Instagram Reading app players etc are depriving the students for the reading skills and therefore they are asked to read newspapers regularly to inculcate the habit of reading and to improve their reading skills.
Writing Skills
The Department encourages the creative talents of the students and as a result the students write short stories and poems and prove their skill and creativity in writing English. Besides dictation of notes, writing assignments, tests, preparation of seminars also help them improve their writing skills.students also instructed to text messages in English through Watsapp and improve their writing skills
Competitions
The department conducts competitions like Quiz, GK, Elocution and Essay wriring to encourage the competitive spirit among the students.
Field Trips:
The department feels the responsibility to train the students to enable them in getting suitable jobs and so, a field trip to Hi-tech city universities of Osmania and Hyderabad Central University where many multi-national companies are in run, so that the students can have a idea about the importance of English associated with the progress of the country.
Linkages
Linkages with the Department of English, Government Degree College for Women, Sangareddy and Tara Degree College, Sangareddy have been made to enable the students broaden their aspect of learning.
Extension Lectures
Department of English arranged extension lectures on different topics from different colleges. As our college has linkage with Tara Degree College, Sri. G. Praveen Kumar Lecturer in English has been invited to deliver extension lecture on communication skills.
Teaching, Learning And Evaluation
Teaching:- Year long Annual teaching by preparing annual plan is prepared for teaching. Faculty members take the classes according to the time-table are give synopsis / teaching notes to the students.After admition the students into Ist year programmed Bridge classes are conducted to bring all students to a uniform level.
Seminars, group discussions, quiz programmers are added to supplement the normal teaching practices. For better understanding, models are prepared by students and are used as teaching aids.
Learning:To encourage independent learning in addition to class room learning, some study projects are undertaken. Assignments are given to increase the students learning capacity. Model questions for P.G. entrance are also discussed. To make the students acquire additional knowledge, guest lecture is arranged.
Evaluation:Monthly tests are conducted to record their progression. For slow learners remedial class will be conducted.
Research, consultancy and Extension
Faculty Members participate in Govt.Programmes like Janmaboomi as resource persons and are taking active part in N.S.S.activities. Our faculty members extended their extension lectures at other colleges on request of concerned Principals.
Infrastructure and learning resources
Central Library is being used by the students to take the books . In addition to that we have Department Library from which guided text book reading is made possible in the department with the help of our faculty members.
Student support and progression
Personal care of students is taken and supports their physical and the psychological needs. Many of the students are pursuing higher studies and professional courses. To support poor students Faculty members of the Department are Donate funds to purchase text books and note books.
Organization and Management
Faculty attended the Orientation,Refresher courses conducted by State Govt. and other for the purpose of self-improvement. faculty members are working in several committees such as admission, special fee committees to assist the Principal in his administration. and update knowledge, Faculty will participate in all there courses

altogether 4 post-reading activities to choose from), b) evaluation of
the answers to Q 4 will be very subjective because the question will
not have any ready-made answer.
