The Department of English was established in the year 1981 and from then it has been taking measures to enhance and enrich the students by providing them ample opportunities to strengthen and build up their life skills and create opportunities and platforms to bring out their talent and skill. The department offers General English to all the streams i.e. B.A, B.COM,B.Sc and always strives to meet the needs of the students and puts efforts to enhance the skills of the students by making them participate actively in the classroom activities and encourages the use of the English language to communicate among the peers and with the faculty as well. Further, the department provides the students with innovative ideas and conducts student seminars,motivates the students to prepare student study projects and also sees them participate in Group Discussions,JAM programs. Furthermore, it also arranges Mock-Interviews, Self-introductions etc. Currently the department is headed by Ms. B.Sandhya Rani,Assistant Professor of English.
Keeping in view the demand for English language locally and globally, the Department of English has set some objectives in imparting English language to the students that enable them to meet and face the challenges with confidence. ➢ To equip the students with good communication skills.
➢ To build vocabulary.
➢ To encourage them to speak in English.
➢ To make them excel in creative thinking and problem solving.
➢ To strengthen their presentation skills.
➢ To enhance their confidence levels by making them participate in different classroom activities like JAM,Role-Plays, GD’s etc.
➢ To instill moral and ethical values.
➢ To equip them with good etiquette.
