      The college was established during the year 1981-1982 with traditional courses in social science i.e., B.A and B.Com. Science courses were introduced during the academic year 2009-2010 with B.Sc. Botany, Zoology and Chemistry combination. At present the department of Zoology has one Assisstant professor Dr G S Jyothirirmai Zoology is one of the most important science subject that was introduced in 2009.During last decade the department has grown enormously in strength and diversity . The department has one faculty with Ph.D. The department has one well established laboratory which caters to the needs of 60 undergraduate students of all three B Sc classes. One museum with lots of specimens of animal kingdom and a departmental library with books related to subject are mentionable features . UGC has sanctioned funds under various development grants .Modern teaching methods involving smart board ,research microscopes ,dissecting microscopes have been helpful to the faculty in adopting innovative teaching methods with active involvement of students. The faculty members are regularly participating in national and international seminars ,workshops ,conferences. The department also conducts regular health and blood check ups for the students.

      Objectives of zoology department

      • To provide quality education in a branch of Biological sciences i.e Zoology with different specializations.

      • To facilitate Higher education & research in zoology.

      • To provide quality education offering skill based programs and motivate the students for self employment in applied branches of Zoology.
