ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

• The department of English was established in 1991.
• The department has been teaching General English as a First Language for  B.A., B.Com. & B.Sc. I ,  II year  students.  The department follows the syllabus designed by the authorities of Palamuru University Mahabubnagar as per the CBCS pattern.

 Department is sanctionedThree Lecturer Posts.

OUR VISION:  To enable students compete in the Global World with the power of “Communication Skills in English”.

OUR MISSION:  Imparting integrated LSRW Skills with a comprehensive teaching and learning process.  Preparing  the students face the global challenges associated with English Language. Constant Exposure to the language to remove fear of speaking English Language.

Curricular Aspects:  The department follows Palamuru University prescribed Curriculum. The department constantly tries to focus on Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.

Teaching Learning Methods:  Department prepares Action Plan and Curricular Plan at the beginning of the academic year.  Regular meetings and co-curricular activities implemented.  The department reviews next year Teaching Strategies.

Evaluation of Students:  Asper the Almanac and instruction of Palamuru University Internal exams and assignments will be conducted.  Students are tested on Four Skills, LSRW and steps will be taken to improve them in their weak areas.

INNOVATIONS:  The department encourages and guides the students to participate in various project works such as PPTs, charts, visiting Old Age Homes etc. 

English Speaking Club:  Students are given a chance to speak on any topic of their choice in English. 

Best Practice:  It is one such course where in all students of the college are supposed to speak in “English only” throughout their stay in the campus to enable the students to overcome the fear of speaking English.          

Free Certificate Course:   Every year Free Certificate Course on General English will be conducted to enhance knowledge in English particularly for competitive examinations.

Departmental Future Plan:  The department is planning to propose Post Graduation Program in English Language and Literature.  The department plans to include more number of Certificate Courses in Communicative and Spoken English.
