      ABOUT DEPARTMENT :

                     In the year 1991, the Department of Telugu was introduced at UG level keeping in view the need for improving of literal, cultural and moral values under the OSMANIA UNIVERSITY up to 2010. After 2010 – 2011 academic year, this department was converted to continue its literary endeavors under the PALAMUR UNIVERSITY. The Department of Telugu has been providing excellent Language Learning skills platform for the students. This Department is being run with only two faculty member.

      TEACHING LEARNING EVALUATION:

       

      • Department of Telugu follows the syllabus and other curricular aspects framed by Palamuru University, Mahabubnagar.
      • The teaching staff have freedom to adopt their own teaching methods, innovations and teaching modules to make the students understand the topics in their respective papers.
      • Students are encouraged to participate in group discussions, seminars, Quiz,Essay and Elocution competitions.
      • Further they are guided to do some projects to strengthen their application skills in the Telugu Language required during their study.
      • The students are encouraged to take active part in extra-curricular activities like NSS Activities, Extra Curricular Activities and Other Societal Activities.

      TEACHING :

      • The teaching involves mainly lecture, student centric and discussion methods supplemented by seminars.
      • In the beginning of each academic year, the annual academic plans are prepared by every lecturer. The syllabus is covered as per the academic plan.
      • Teaching dairy and teaching notes are maintained by every staff member.
      • Study material is supplied to the students.
      • Students are encouraged to participate in seminars, quiz, group discussions conducted by the lecturers in their respective classes.
      • Students have been encouraged to collect different clippings related to the Language and Literature from newspapers and magazines of the topics included in the syllabus.

      LEARNING:

      • The students are encouraged to read text books from the college main library as well as the department library and the discus difficult topics with the staff members.
      • The slow learners are identified and provided remedial classes. Study material is supplied on some selected topics.
      • Average students are encouraged to write assignments on the topics useful for the university examinations.
      • The bright students are encouraged to undertake study projects.

      EVALUATION :

      • The Department conducts the Slip tests and Internal Exams regularly.
      • Each student is evaluated in the class by way of tests, class room seminars and guidelines are given to them prepare for University and other competitive exams.
      • Assignments are given to all the students as a part of the Internal Evaluation as per CBCS system.
      • Student project works encouraged.

      Student  Seminars:

       

      • To improve the presentation skills of the students, we are arranging the seminars regularly.
      • The topics of seminars are given in advance to the students and the lecturer will guide them to present the seminar.

      STUDENT SUPPORT AND PROGRESSION :

       

      • The students are grouped and placed under a teacher to develop close rapport to solve the problems of each student.
      • The department maintains ward counseling system.
      • Students are encouraged to celebrate Teachers’ day.
      • Students are encouraged for the Competitive exams of their choice.

      FIELD TRIPS:

      • The students are taken to different places of Learning with importance to history and Literature.

       

      LITERARY   COMPETITIONS

      • Every year Competitions are conducted in various Literary Events like Quiz, Elocution Essay Writing and etc., to identify the talents of the students on 29th  August ( on the eve of Telugu Basha Dinotsavam)  and 21st February ( on the eve of Mathru Basha Dinotsavam)

      LIBRARY AS LEARNING RESOURCE:

      • Apart from the huge central library, the department has a library of reference books. These books are lent to the students which will be an additional reading and learning information to them.

      EVALUATION:

      1. The performance of the students is evaluated through unit tests, slip tests, Internals,  assignments and seminars.
      2. The average pass percentage of Telugu in the College is more than the average percentage of University.

      RESEARCH CONSULTANCY AND EXTENSION:

      The faculty of our department read constantly research journals to enrich their research knowledge and to know the latest knowledge in Telugu. The faculty also publish the research articles/papers in various national and international journals.

                Dr A.Venkat Prasad, Assistant Professor’s articles have been published in the National and International Magazines of the recognized organizations.

      Promotion of Research: Study Projects:

      Every year faculty of the Department assign and guide the study projects to the meritorious students.

      The objectives of the study projects are
