    • DEPARTMENT HISTORY

      The Department of Commerce was established in this college with B.Com (General) course in the year 1987 with a view to provide Commerce education to the students of this region. Eminent and well experienced faculty served at this department. In a bid to impart the computer knowledge which is the need of the hour, B. Com Computer Applications was introduced in the year 1999-2000. To cater to the needs of the English Medium students, B. Com General English Medium was also introduced in the year 2018-19.  Many eminent scholars with required knowledge and skills were produced from this department. The Department of Commerce is one of the biggest departments at College in terms of Students enrollment and Number of Staff Members as well. Alumni members of this department achieved greater positions in their lives.

       

      EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

      • With a view to provide quality Commerce Education to the students of this region, Department of Commerce was established on 11-12-1987 with B.Com General TM course and B.Com Computer Applications EM was introduced in 1999-2000 to equip the students with computer skills besides commerce education.
      • Interestingly, in order to satisfy the huge demand from the English Medium students, B.Com General EM was started in the year 2018-19.
      • Indeed, the Department of Commerce is one of the biggest Departments in the College in terms of Staff and Student Admissions.
      • The students of Department had undertaken about more than 3 Student Study Projects out of which 2 project were selected for State Level Presentation as part of JIGNASA programme which was introduced in 2016-17.
      • Enthusiastically, Teachers of Commerce Department have conducted a good number of Co-curricular activities such as Student Seminars, Assignments, Group Discussion, Debates, Extension Lectures, Commerce Quiz, Elocution, Essay Writing, Field Visits and Study Projects etc. to increase their participative and collaborative learning.
      • To leverage the technology, interestingly, all the Commerce Teachers are effectively using ICT for making the teaching-learning more effective.
      • One of the Teachers of Commerce of Department i.e., Dr. M. Malla Reddy, Asst. Professor has co-authored about 4 Commerce Textbooks for UG Courses.
      • The Department of Commerce has inked a ‘Linkage’ with Department of Commerce, Satavahana University, Karimnagar for exchange of faculty, field visits and to carry project works etc.
      • To provide first-hand knowledge to the students, more than 4 Field Trips and Study Tours have been conducted during the last five years.
      • As far as physical and infrastructural facilities are concerned, Department of Commerce has one staff room, 3 spacious classrooms, one Digital Classroom cum Commerce Lab and Computer Lab with 17 Systems and two CCTV Cameras for safety and security.
      • The Departmental Library has more than 100 Text and Reference books.
      • During the last five years, a good number of Commerce students have progressed to higher education i.e., M.Com, M.B.A and Other Courses etc.
      • R. Mahesh, the student of B.Com bagged the first prize in Yuvatharangam State Level Cultural Programme held at Nizamabad.
      • M. Sampath, the student of B.Com represented in National Volley Ball Tournament.
      • Eminent, Scholastic and Rich experienced Teachers have served at the Department and moulded many students to reach greater heights in their life.
      • The Teachers of Department of Commerce are rendering their valuable services in various Academic, Administrative, IQAC and Extension Committees and Dr. M. Malla Reddy, is serving as IQAC and NAAC Coordinator.
      • The Commerce Department has played a significant role in initiation and adoption of Best Practices such as Faculty Forum, Student Study Project and Student Quality Circles etc which yielded good results as well.

      • To impart quality education to the socially and economically backward students and to develop self confidence, self reliance, communication and employability skills and to inculcate knowledge, wisdom, and values of democracy, justice, liberty, fraternity and humanism.

      • To cater to the academic needs of all the sections of the society and to mould the students as responsible citizens with social awareness.
      • To achieve academic excellence by involving well qualified, abundant experienced and dedicated teaching fraternity.
      • To adopt the student-centric and outcome based learning methods coupled with ICT to equip the students with required knowledge and skills.
      • To expand the infrastructural and academic facilities required for advanced learning.
      • To provide with advanced learning resources of ICT and Virtual Classrooms for a potential knowledge base.
      • To develop life skills, employability skills and to strive for all-round development of the students by utilizing the institutional resources.
      • To educate and empower the students to face the modern age challenges in pursuit of their goals.
      • To promote social awareness, humanism and imbibing moral, human values and professional ethics.
      • To provide greater access to all those who deserve and desire higher education in general and to rural, marginalized sections of society in particular.
