      Brief History of the college and the Department

      The College under the name of “Adarsha Degree College” was established in the year 1965 66. The department of Economics was also introduced with inception of the BA course in the college. The college was started under private management. This strength of the section was with 40 students. Since the year 1976 onwards the college came under the affiliation of Kakatiya University. Earlier the college was under affiliation of Osmania University. The college was taken over by the government in 1982 and named as Government Degree College. Since 2010-11 academic year the college is affiliated to Sathavahana University, Karimnagar.
      The initial strength of the course was 40 students in BA (HEP) and 30 students in BA (HEOM) (Restructured course) in each combination.
      Since In the inception of the college the No. of posts sanctioned in the department was only one.
      The many faculty members contributed to the department and rendered their services for the upliftment of the department in particular and the college in general.
      Sri K. Rajendram worked in the department from 05-2-2012 to 30-6-2018;
      Presently M. Rama mohan Rao has been working in the department since 30-6-2018.

      Vision and Mission of the Department

      1. To provide quality instruction in Economics and enable the students to prepare for all competitive exams and PG entrance exams of state and Central Universities;
      2. To promote and impart research oriented education in social sciences;
      3. To prepare the students to face any situation  regarding their Economic activities and understand economic problems in a right way;
      4. To make the students to analyze the economic problems of the country,
      5.  To inculcate the  ethical values among the students
      6. To inculcate the values of self-esteem, personal integrity and social responsibility.
      7. To impart as many additional skills as possible so to enable the students to sustain on their own.

      4. Dr. T.Mohan-2007-08. Ph.D, in Economics at O.U. HYD.
