• The department of history at was started Vivekananda govt Degree College         Vidyanagar Hyderabad was started in the year 1966

• The department of history was established in 1966 with Telugu as the medium of instruction in the college.
• History was introduced as one of the undergraduate programmes with the combination of political science and economics.
• History deals with the roots of the civilization and helps the student to get an insight of the ancient times
• To understand the present a insight of the past is essential as history is an unending dialogue between the past and present.
• The department offers G.E and S.E.C courses in the present academic year.

Objectives

• To provide a understanding of historical importance to understand the present.
• Critically understand the society and economy of the nation.
• A historical understanding of Indian society and the plurality of its nature can be understood.
• Its gives a strong idea of history and in the process builds a national consciousness.
• It helps the students for preparing any competitive examinations.

The department of history, Vivekananda govt degree college Vidyanagar Hyderabad, an intensive, coaching for the entrance examinations into MA history programme drawing students from different degree colleges in the twin cities

Extension lecture –

Was organised for the benefit of students of BA programmes.

Field Trip

The department of history conducted a field trip to historical exhibition on “untold Telangana” at art gallery, Ravindra Bharathi, Hyderabad on 06-02-2019.

Celebrations of birth anniversary of Dr. BR Ambedkar

Professor Adapa Satyanarayana (Rtd.) department of history, Osmania University, Hyderabad addressed the students.
