Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry, a sterling hallmark in the Science stream of the Government Degree College, Kukatpally is established in the year 2008 and successfully completed its decennial year with four regular teachers. It has chartered its journey with M.PC English medium and BZC Telugu medium and crossed innumerable mile stones in the past ten years and presently catering to the needs of nearly two hundred and fifty odd students in B.Sc with various combinations taught in telugu and English media. The department is bestowed with a very good lab and other facilities incidental to the effective dissemination of the curriculum. The department has enveloped its credentials with an impeccable academic accolades contributed by two doctorates, one Senior Research Fellow and an another UGC NET holder. The teaching staff of the department have been making very strenuous endeavours to enhance their research skills at various universities like Telangana University, KL University and many other institutes of national excellence.

The Department of Chemistry has been playing an important role in discharging the additional responsibilities at the college and state level as vested by the Commissionerate of Collegiate Education and other government agencies of the state.

• Dr. I. Vani, Incharge of the department since September 2021, Dr. Vani has also been serving the teaching fraternity in the capacity of State Lady Secretary of the Government College Gazetted Teachers Association.
• Dr. P.  Vinod Kumar Goud, Asst. Professor of Chemistry, has been serving as the Coordinator of Sports and allied activities at the college and helping the students overcome their rigidities in Physical Education.

The department takes pride claiming that it had successfully placed twenty five students in various MNCs like IKEA, Dr. Reddy Labs and many other Blue Chip companies. It also assists students by imparting training through the Career Guidance Cell of the college to place themselves in good entities.
