      DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE

          1. Brief History about the Department

      The Department of Commerce was established in the year 1956 with the inception of the PUC Course in the College with English as medium of instruction. The same batch of PUC continued their education in B.Com I, II and III Year in 1957,1958, 1959 respectively. Sri K. Ganga Reddy was the first Head Department of Commerce and also hold the position of Vice – Principal of the College. He worked as Deputy Director of Higher Education Government of Andhra Pradesh . In the Year 1971 another section with Telugu as medium of instruction was introduced in the Department. Urdu medium section was also introduced in the year 1988. The dream of introducing M.Com was materialized in the year 2001 with the permitted strength of 30 students. From the year 2010, the intake for M.Com course has been enhanced to 40. The total 12 posts are sanctioned to the department. The departmental results are remarkably high compared to University results. The Departments regularly conducts District level workshops. Seminars in addition to its regular Class teaching. Seminars, Unit tests. Apart from regular teaching the Department will undertake the Project reports, Field trips. Industrial visits etc. The alumni of the Departments are found in all fields. However students served the state by becoming Ministers. The alumni occupied the position of Vice Chancellors. Professors, Lecturer, Teachers, Charted Accountants, Tax consultants, Advocates, Bankers, Officials. Law and justice are ensured through Advocates. Law and order is maintained by way of Police Officials etc. Sri M.Sanjaya, the present General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, Hyderabad, A.P. and Sri Jagadishwer IAS, Commissioner of School Education, Govt of Telangana are the Alumni.
