ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The department of Zoology is foremost and prestigious department of the esteemed GIRRAJ GOVERNMENT COLLEGE, NIZAMABAD which established in the year 1956.   The department tendered immaculate service of fifty five years so far and creating zeal and interest towards subject.

There were only two staff members in the department at the time of inception. Later on  the staff members had been increased to eight  in the department. There are two well equipped laboratories for UG courses and 2 for PG course. There is a museum with number of stuffed animals and other models available for pursuing education.

                This department is adorned with name and fame, quite efficient and has produced meritorious students. Every year number of outgoing students getting admissions in to post graduate course in ZOOLOGY and other allied subjects of  Hyderbad central university, Osmania, Kakateeya and other universities in the country.

The department was also  introduced P.G. Course in the  ZOOLOGY subject in the academic  year 2005 -06  on self-finance basis   with fisheries  as a specialization  which is offered in the final year of the course. 

Students from the different districts i.e. Adilabad, Karimnagar and Medak and along with different corner of native District Nizamabad had been taking admissions in every year since establishment of the department in the college.

VISION OF THE DEPARTMENT

• To offer academic flexibility by means of Choice based credit systems and the like.
• To identify and introduce new specializations and offer programs in emerging areas therein.
• To incorporate into the curriculum the Application orientation and use high standards of competence for academic delivery.
• To design and implement educational system adhering to outcome based International models.
• To introduce and implement innovation in teaching  and learning process to strengthen academic delivery
• To promote inter-disciplinary studies and create needful facilities that enhance inter-disciplinary approach and innovation
• To establish centers of excellence in frontier areas of research, and design innovation centers with industry collaboration
• To create environment to innovate and incubate the products and services that addresses the societal requirements
• To integrate research  into all academic programs
• To offer academic programs at UG, PG which are industry focused, and incorporates Trans-discipline, inter-discipline aspects of the education system
• To deliver higher education that includes technologies and meeting the global requirements
• To promote International conferences / Seminars / Workshops / in collaboration with professional bodies for creation of avenues for research exchange
