      INTRODUCTION

      DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY (SELF FINANCE COURSE)

      Department of BIOCHEMISTRY was established in 2005-06 academic year with the serious effort of R. Nethaji, HOD of chemistry. It   is providing the best services in the district for needs of the under graduate biochemistry students. Departmental library is maintained regularly for the benefits of students.  Regular field trips are arranged by the department to bring awareness among the students about the applications of biochemistry. The best technical & laboratory knowledge to work in various diagnostic centres has been provided to the students. Department has been providing career guidance regularly.

      COURSES OFFERED

      B.Sc  BIOCHEMISTRY  course is offered along with the combination of  ZOOLOGY & CHEMISTRY  in English medium. The sanctioned strength is 54. It is a self financed course. From the academic year 2018-19, we introduced combination of BOTANY & CHEMISTRY in English medium. In CBCS pattern, now the Biochemistry students can choose any two optional subjects from Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biotechnology and Chemistry.

      FEE PERTICULARS:-

      Rs. 4053/- is charged as tuition fee per year.

      SYLLABUS;

      Since ours is an autonomous college, the syllabus is designed by chairman and members of BOARD OF STUDIES (BOS), Department   of biochemistry, Girraj Government Degree College (A). The course has eight  theory and four practical papers in semester wise pattern  i.e  I,II,III,IV,V,VI . From the academic year 2014-15 CBC SYSTEM  has been introduced for the I year students (I &II semesters) ,  from 2015-16 for II year  and from 2016-17 for III year  the CBCS was introduced .from 2016-17 onwards semester  wise practical examinations are conducted.

      ADMISSION PROCEDURE;

      Students were admitted through counselling procedure based on their merit till 2015-16 academic years. From 2016-17 academic onwards admissions are made through online system as per the commission of collegiate education guide license.
