      HISTORY OF TELUGU DEPARTMENT

      The Department of Telugu of MKR Government Degree College Devarakonda was established in the year 1981, Le from the inception of the College The College was started with B.A. B.Com Courses. The B.Sc Course was introduced in the year 2001-02 and the Restructured Courses in Computers and Micro-Biology were started in the following years. Telugu Language and Literature was introduced as Second Language for all Courses The Department is following the common care Syllabus introduced by the Government of Telangana and prescribed by University, Nalgonda

      Ever since the establishment of the Department, the Teaching Staff have been well experienced with Academic excellence and higher qualifications Apart from Teaching they also take active participation in Literary and Cultural programs being conducted time to time in the College. The present Head, Dr. T.Krishnaiah has published 4 books and has 4 more books ready for publication, contributed Articles and Poems to reputed Journals such as Veera Telangana, BangaruShikharam and also presented Live talks onpopular Television channel Jai Telangana He contributes a regular full page weekly article on Telugu literature to a popular Telugu daily Namasthe Telangana"

      SWOC Analysis of the Department and Future Plans:

      Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities, Threat, Analysis it provide basis for a frame work and help to identify different knowledge area and priorities for knowledge creation and knowledge exploitation. In order to promote the development of knowledge society the department make efforts to develop infrastructure for knowledge dissemination is given top priority, which will serve the public interest, focus on human communications and provide universal access to information.

      The department of Telugu was established in the year 1981 in Government Degree College, Devarakonda Nalgonda.

      •  To encourage and motivate the students to study ancient and modern literature.
      •  To encourage the students to read literary essays published in news papers and magazines
      •  To make them participate in literary competitions organised at various levels.
      •  To motivate them to participate online workshops and   seminars.
      •  To inspire them to read master pieces of eminent poets and writers.
      •  To encourage them to interact with the local poets and writers

      Strengths

      • Experienced Faculty in terms of teaching/research.

      • Extra curricular &   Co-curricular activities for overall development of

      • Easy to teach ethics and values through Telugu language.

      Weaknesses

      • Students feel that Speaking Telugu is an inferior activity and students show negligence towards Telugu language.
      • No Telugu language testing in competitive examinations.
      • The parents are crazy about English medium education.
      • Day to day transaction forms are not available in Telugu.

      Opportunities:

      • Plenty of opportunities are available for  the people who have good command over Telugu.
      • Telugu is a Cultural specific Language it preserves our traditions, customs, rituals and festivals for next generation.
      • Telugu makes the learner to become a good citizen of the nation.  It encourages creative writing in freelance.

       

      Challenges:

      • Lack of interest to pursue higher studies in Telugu language.
      • It is hard to make the students as mistakes free writing and speaking.
      • Lack of interest in Telugu language is losing ethics and values.

      • CRITERIA WISE DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES

       

      1. CURRICULAR ASPECTS

      We follow the syllabus framed by      the Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda. The common core syllabus has been introduced by council for Higher Education Hyderabad. In this college Telugu subject is taught as second language for B.A, B.Com, B.Sc courses.

      Improvement of syllabus is done by incorporating the additional inputs. Annual curricular plan is prepared in the beginning of the academic year in which teaching and other activities are related. In addition to the syllabus to create interest in subject additional inputs are given to the students.

      Paper Clippings:

      Paper clippings collected by staff and students from daily newspapers,   important articles related to subject has been preserved by the department to impart the additional information to students.

       

      II. TEACHING, LEARNING AND EVALUATION

      Teaching aids such as photographs of great poets and authors collected and used for effective of teaching learning process. The department prepares Annual Academic plan in the beginning of every Academic year to have systematic approach.

      CONTRIBUTION OF THE STUDENTS

      The students actively participate in the activities being taken up by the department like as class room seminars, Group discussions and present their opinion on the various topics given to bring  the creative skills.

      RESOURCES

      DEPARTMENT LIBRARAY:

      A reference section in the Department is maintained with nearly above 43 books, Books are on Telugu Literature, Dictionaries, Collection of old and modern poetry etc, are available for reference.

      LITERARY ACTIVITIES:

      The department conducts Essay writing, Elocution competitions to encourage reading as habit among the students. Department collects their creative writings also to encourage the Students in readings Books of Prominent Poets and Authors, to develop their vocabulary and Knowledge to mould the personality and to plan their Career.

       

      IV- STUDENT SUPPORT AND PROGRESSION:

      The department conducts seminars, quiz, essay writings and Elocution competitions and extension lecturer for the benefit of the students. Students are motivated for higher studies. Most of our students joined B. Ed courses.

      HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DEPARTMENT:

      To bring out the creative skills among the students, Telugu department is conducting essay writing, elocution, quiz, poetry reciting and book reading competitions.

      V. ORGANIZATION & MANAGEMENT

      Departmental Meetings:

      Departmental meeting are arranged regularly in the presence of principal to discuss academic issues. The Minutes are recorded in Minutes register of the Department.

      DEPARTMENTAL LIBRARY

      A reference section in the department is maintained with 43 books of Telugu  literature, Dictionaries, Grammar, Collection on Modern poetry etc. are available per ready  reference, To enrich literary knowledge of the students the department is maintaining the bio data and photographs of the eminent poets and writers.

       

      JOURNALS

      The department subscribes for the Journals of current Telugu literature such as Massoi, Telugu Vidyarthi, Ramakrishna Prabha, Bhakthi Telugu, Velugu, etc. for its ready reference of literary articles.

      MODEL PAPERS

      The Department maintains the previous question papers of Mahatma Gandhi University Question Bank and Question Papers of Internal Examination and Semester wise.

      ACTION PLAN OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR

      • Propose to Conduct Literary activities like Essay writing, Quiz, Poetry writing,       Antyakshari in poems and Poetry Recitation.
      • To celebrate international Festival Mathru Bhasha Dinotsavam in the month February.
      • To Celebrate Telugu Bhasha Dinotsavam in the month August
      • To celebrate Telangana Bhasha Dinotsavam in the month of September on the occation of   Kaloji Narayana Rao Jayanthi.

       

      ANNUAL ACADEMIC PLAN

      • The department prepares Annual Academic plan in the beginning of the every academic year to have more systemic approach.
      • The departmental meetings are arranged in the month of June i.e. beginning of the every academic year to discuss issues pertaining to academic matters.
      • In every year the Department reviews the syllabus, results, Time Table and Workload allotment in the beginning.
      • All the faculty maintain the Attendance Register of the students, Teaching Dairies and Synopsis of the prescribed syllabus.
      • The Deportment reviews the syllabus and Results in Semester wise.
