INTRODUCTION TO THE DEPARTMENT
Zoology being one of the basic sciences, has played a significant role in improving the quality of mankind over the years.Hence learning Zoology subject is more essential.
Govt. degree College for women,Nalgonda was started during the academic year 1977-78 with the efforts and good wishes of elders and the elite of the town visualizing the great need of it for promoting women’s education. In the year 1984 government allotted an old building which was the official residence of deputy executive engineer vide its G.O Ms No 74.At the time of inception the college had only two faculties i.e. Commerce and Arts. The department of Zoology was started from the academic year 1988-89 as the science courses were started with combinations of B.Z.C(Botany-Zoology-Chemistry) group with Telugu medium. From the inception department of Zoology has been catering the educational needs of women students.
Department of Zoology has total 6 sanctioned posts, in that ‘5’are teaching posts (1- permanent, 4-Temporary) ,and ‘1’ post (permanent) is non- teaching post (Museum Keeper).
The institution was awarded recognition under 2(f) and 12(B) in 1993 of the UGC act of 1956 and ever since then it has been receiving assistance from the UGC.
The College was accredited NAAC with B+ grade in 2006,andB grade in 2015.
