    •                             Nagarjuna Government College was established in 1956. Department of  English came into existence after three years that was; in 1959 with the introduction of the B.A BSc,BCom, Regular courses in both media. With the abolition of the then existing evening colleges in certain colleges in the state in 1988-89.The Regular English Medium course was shifted from  evening college to the day college. In 1998 All Regular English Medium Courses were wound up and after a careful understanding of the need for training and developing highly skilled and Excellent communication skills, a new curriculam of  UG was introduced the same year. Thus the present existing curriculam was designed with necessary modifications from time to time by the University with an avowed aim of exposing the students to all core areas of Language aspects in the ever changing. Global scenario. And after being awarded the autonomous status in 2007-08, the Department is acting to the extent of its permissibility on its own in designing the syllabus taking into consideration the local and the day by day changing needs in and around.

                           Keeping also in view  the need to  up-to-date trends and changes in a world of globalization and computerization, the Department has established a well equipped English Language Lab in 2008-09 with adequate infrastructure.. 

                                  The Department has strengthened itself with well experienced teachers sincerely committed to imparting quality education. They keep themselves abreast of the rapidly changing facets of the world of English.

                                   The Department has extended its support to English students by training them in computer based Exams through CBT to help them attain competitive advantage in job market.

                               The faculty members of this department have a voluminous experience to their credit and are sincerely committed to the mission of imparting quality education. They keep themselves -abreast of the rapidly changing world of English.
