The department of Economics was established in the year 1956. It is the pioneer department in this region. The department has 108 hours work load with four sanctioned lecturer posts. In the year 2009 – 10 EEP Group converted Telugu medium to English medium. The combination of English literature, Economics and Computer Application a Self Finance Course Started from this Academic year 2011 – 12, which is Sanctioned by G.O Rt No. 542. Dated 02 - 08 –11. The CBCS (Credit Based Choice System) was implemented from the Academic year 2016-17.

 The Department has Sanctioned M.A. Economics PG Course vide G.O. Rt.No.507 Dated 26 - 07 - 2011 Considering demand from students and parents committee with an intake of 40 students. The Course has sanctioned affiliation by the Mahatma Gandhi University, Nalgonda vide Letter No. 189/MGU/Affi/2011 – 12 dated 31 - 10 – 2011.2. The M.A Economics PG Course started from the academic year 2011 - 12. Total intake of 40 students filled by Director of admissions OU as per merit they got in the common entrance test and rule of reservations. Three Faculty members were appointed as academic consultants/guest faculty by the selection committee to engage M.A. Economics PG Course.  After the N.G.College turned in to Autonomous in 2007 - 08. The Department of Economics designed syllabus taking the changing needs of the day and students into consideration. The members of the department have voluminous experience to their credit imparting quality education to students. They keep themselves updated about the changing aspects of Economics at the regional, National and International levels.
