  • Geology
    • The department of Geology was established in the year 1959 and itwas the first college to introduce Geology in English Medium. And this is the college that offers Geology as one of the optional in the entire Telangana region. Beginning in 1972 the combination of Geology was converted into Telugu Medium. MPG group is coverted from Telugu medium to English Medium during the year 2010-11 onwards. The department was led by eminent lecturers like; Sri. D. Vaman Rao, Prof: A.A.Moiz, .Dr. HarinathBabu, .Afsar AliBaig,.Sri.G. V.Krishna Murthy,.Sri.P. Veeraiah, Sri.S.Purushotham.. At present the department is headed byChintha Muthaiah, I/c Department of Geology. . In addition to regular academic work, extension lectures are conducted to supplement and strengthen the syllabus. Besides this periodical tests are conducted to evaluate and update the knowledge of the students. Advanced and latest knowledge of the subject provided to the students by conducting modules every year in each paper. It functions as a bridge between the regular academic / curricula and the advancement coming about in the field. Now this is the only department offering Geology in Telangana Region in Government colleges with 02 sanctioned posts and one Non – teaching staff. The department is providing practical facilities well equipped spacious laboratories andM.S.Krishnan Geological Museum. The department organized quiz programmes and seminars to update the knowledge and to develop learning habit and personality development. Extension lectures are organized for better exposure of students to the latest subject and teaching techniques. The enormous magnitude of scientific power produced by the department is more than 500 M.Sc. and no. of Alumni have distinguished themselves in academic and administrative areas in the country occupying positions of responsibility in industrial establishment and academic institutions. Professors in Osmania University, Kakatiya university, Mahatma Gandhi University, Geological Survey of India, National Geophysical Research Institute, Singareni Collieries Ltd, AP Mines & Geology, AP State Ground Water Department, Central Ground Water Board, AP National Mineral Development Corporation, APSRAC. etc., Every year the passing percentage of Geology is more than 90. Some of the senior faculty members delivered guest lecturers to UG students in the affiliated colleges. Free consultancy service is providing to the farmers for locating groundwater sites for agricultural purposes
