College is an institution of higher education where an individual sharpens the intellect and unfolds the mysterious faculties of mind. College library is the heart of the institution. Library supports the process of college education through providing required reading materials to the staff and students and opens the doors to the wide world of books which encourages reading for gain of knowledge and pleasure.
Library in Government Degree College, Gambhiraopet was established in the year 2013. In the beginning it was having only 100 books covering different subjects. The principals of the college have shown much interest to develop the library.
Our College Library supports the teaching, learning and research process of college by  providing required reading materials such as Text books, Reference books, Competitive Examination books, General reading books, Journals, Magazines, Newspapers, Open Access Educational Resources (OERs) such as e-books, e-journals, and e-magazines. It also preserves the Syllabus copies and Previous Question papersof semester theory examinations to make it available to the staff and students. College library is also used for recreation and leisure as it provides light reading materials like general books, literature books and magazines, etc.
Our Library is fully automated by using Newgenlib software (Version 3.1.1) which is an Integrated Library Management System (ILMS) developed by Verus Solutions Private Limited, Hyderabad. Bibliographical data has been entered into the Library database and provided access to search the Bibliographical information through Online Public Access catalogue (OPAC). And recently started  automated issue/return of books operation too. It enables the library users to view the status of availabilty of books in the library, membership history, etc.
Calibre - an open source e-Book management software has been using for management of College Digital Repositories. This enables the user to browse and access to digital documents such as e-books, articles, previous question papers, syllabus copies access, etc. in the library premises. Our Library also registered to National Digital Library which was developed by IIT- Kharagpur to access to its Digital Documents.
Our College Library organises Library Orientation programmes to Staff and Students to create awareness on Library for better utilization of the Library’s resources and encouraging the students and teaching staff to reinforce their Academic and Research pursuits. It organises Special Book Exhibitions on the days of national and international importance, such as Telugu Basha Day, Telangana Basha Day, National Library Week, National Science Day, etc.


  • To provide a student-centered learning environment that facilitates transference of information and to cater to the needs of its users to access it.


  • To acquire, organise, preserve and disseminate information and resources to support the teaching and learning needs of faculty and students.
  • To lead in library development and library services
  • To increase the reading habits among the library patrons.


  • To extend the support to teaching, learning and research initiatives of the college
  • To provide accessibility to information and other resources in a well-organized manner
  • To provide career and employment information resources to the users
  • To create a suitable ambience for optimum usage of library resources
  • To assist the users in retrieval of reading materials and e-resources
  • To inculcate and development of reading habits among the users


At present, the library is housed in a single room with 294.83 Sq.ft. area and has a separate Reading Room with 328.75 Sq.ft. area in the first floor. The college library is organized into 5 sections.

2) Periodicals Section (Journals, Magazines & Daily Newspapers)

4) E-Corner
5) Reading Room


On Working Days : 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.
During the Examination : 9.30 am to 5.00 pm.


The patrons of library include all the students on roll, teaching faculty and non-teaching staff. It has 756 Under Graduate students, 18 Under Graduate students 25 Teaching and 10 Non teaching staff to serve.

In addition to that Our college library made an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with KG to PG Central Library from 2021-22 which facilitates our college staff members and students to access and refer the learning resources and facilities available in the Central Library. It possesses 12342 books collection, subscribes to 24 journals, 25 Magazines and 10 daily newspapers in Telugu, Hindi, Urdu and English Languages.
