                 The Government of Telangana started massive plantation throughout Telangana State in name of TELANGANA KU HARITHA HAARAM  on 3rd  july 2015. It's a large scale tree planting programme was launched by Telangana Chief Minister Sri. Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao. It is one of the Telangana Flagship programme to rejuvenate degraded forests and to increase the amount of tree cover in the state from 24% to 33%.  In the areas outside the existing forest massive planting activities were to be taken up in areas such as roadside, river, canal banks, barren hills, tank bunds and institutional premises, housing colonies 

                This program was started in Nagarjuna Government College Nalgonda on 06-07-2015. The inaugural function was held in college premises i.e near to Hockey Ground. This was presided over by the college Principal Dr. R .Nagender Reddy, The chief guest of the programme  was Sri. Gutta Sukender Reddy.M.P, Nalgonda.  Smt. B. Laxmi Z.P chairperson, Nalgonda and Smt. G. Alivelu mangathayaru, Municipal Commissioner Nalgonda was attended the programme  as guest of honor. On the same day staff and students of the college planted more than 150 plants in the college premises, the plants were collected from different nurseries 

OBJECTIVES

  1.  Haritha Haaram programme is to improve green cover to 33% in Telangana State.
  2.  To ensure more effective protection of forests against smuggling, fire and grazing.
