Higher Education in Andhra Pradesh
The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) came into existence on 20th May 1988 through an act (No 16 of 188) of state legislature to advise the Govt. in matters relating to Higher Education in the State and to oversee its development with perspective planning and for matters connected therewith The Commissioner of Collegiate Education (CCE) implements the rules and regulations through the universities.
University Grants Commission (UGC) monitors the functioning and development of the Degree & P.G. Colleges at National level. UGC provides funds through plan programmes and promotes research activities.
The curriculum followed by the Govt. Colleges is designed by the Universities Each college provides education in

2. Restructured Courses
3. Self Finance Courses
Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) constituted in the colleges monitors the quality of education at the college level. In addition to promoting knowledge, the college provides education and knowledge through various other Committees, Clubs and Centres like MANA TV, Jawahar Knowledge Centre, English Language Lab, E-plus Club, (The HINDU Newspaper Programme), Career Guidance Cell, Placement Cell, Adult & Continuing Education and Remedial Coaching etc., Social Awareness and Community Extension Programmes are conducted through NCC, NSS, Red Ribbon Club, National Green Core, Health Centre, Blood Donor Association, Literacy Club, Women Empowerment Cell, Lead India, Anti-raging Committee, Eco Club, Recreation Committee, Youth Red Cross, etc.

District Collegiate Education Development and Review Committee (DCEDRC)
Karimnagar District
The Principal Secretary to Govt. of Andhra Pradesh (Higher Education) has constituted District Collegiate Education Development and Review Committee to strengthen the academic activities and enhance the employment generation at degree colleges at the District level through GO MS No. 27 H.E(CE-1-2)Dept. Dt. 07-04-2010.
1st DCEDRC Meeting was conducted under the Chairmanship of Smt. G.D. Aruna IAS, District Collector and reviewed issues regarding Govt. Degree Colleges. Some of the important points discussed are mentioned here under
v To expedite on going construction works
v Vacating the dilapidated building of GDC (W), Karimnagar based on the expert committee of NIT, Warangal. Help sought from the Dist. Administration.
v To train students in employable skills through JKC and STP
v Exploring the possibility of earn while you learn concept.
v Revival of Vermi compost at SRRGDC, Karimnagar
v To raise Kitchen garden and nurseries in the colleges
v Providing Toilet facilities to colleges through philanthropic originations
v Regarding the problem of SC/ST/ BC reimbursement, the officials were instructed to give priority to Govt. colleges
v To establish a Mini Study Circle to train SC/ST/ BC students at S.R.R. Govt. College, Karimnagar. Accordingly the BC Study Circle was established at S.R.R. Govt. College, Karimnagar as per the instructions of the District Collector.
v Colleges are instructed to participate in 1 million saplings plantation programme.
v Games and Sports activities to be conducted at district level.
IInd DCEDRC :
The II DCEDRC meeting was held on 08/10/2010 and reviewed the
following:
vReviewed the college results
vThe chairperson reviewed and expressed displeasure over the poor percentage of certain colleges and instructed the Principals to improve the results
vTo speed up the on going construction work at GDC Korutla, GDC Manthani
vTo take special care regarding reimbursement of fees.
vTo impart skills, Spoken, Soft and analytical skills through STP
vTo motivate the students to appear for competitive exams in postal, banking and army recruitment and campus drives.
vThe Commissioner of Collegiate Education, A.P., Hyderabad is requested to sanction of 9.5 Lakhs from the college accumulated funds for shifting and construction of laboratories at GDC(W), Karimnagar
vSanction of funds for furniture, infrastructure and construction work for 04 new college with the help of NABARD funds in appreciated.
vReviewed the allocation of land to GDC, Choppadandi
Jawahar Knowledge Centre (JKC) Activities
JKC is established in all the Govt. Colleges except the newly established colleges
v JKC trains to students in Soft Skills, Communication Skills, Techinical and Analytical Skills, personality Development and thereby ehnaces the employability of the students
v Campus Drives were conducted and 692 students got placement in various MNCs like INFOSYS, Wipro, IBM, Satyam, Dell, World Tech, ICICI, CIPLA etc.
v Intensive remedial coaching programme is planned for the failed and dropout students
Special Training Programme (STP)
Special training programme was initiated to train the students appearing for competitive exams like Postal, Banking and Army recruitments.

Requirements needed to improve infrastructure facilities
1. Requested to allocate land and NABARD funds for construction of college building of GDC, Choppadandi
2. To construct of additional class rooms, labs to the colleges where PG courses are sanctioned in Govt. Degree Colleges
3. To fill up the existing Teaching & Non Teaching vacant posts in Govt. Degree Colleges
4. To provide furniture and infrastructure facilities to the newly established Govt. Degree Colleges in the District
5. To sanction fee reimbursement to the eligible students
6. To provide drinking water facility to the students
