About College


The Govt. of Andhra Pradesh established new degree college with in the name Govt.Degree College, Parkal in the academic year 2008-09 and admissions are kept open in B.A,(HEP), B.Com (Gen), B.Sc.,(BZC) Telugu medium to cater the needs of the students hailing from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Backward Classes who do not have financial capability to persue their education in private degree colleges.

Govt. Degree College, Parkal is thankful to the Department of Higher Education and the commissioner of  Collegiate Education, A.P, Hyderabad who have extended their full support in establishment of new college in parkal. The stake holders like students, parents, business people, political and administrative exicutives have been extending their encouragement for the development of the college.

The college is determined to strive hard to meet the expectations of Higher Education in offering quality education to the students and the parameters propsed by the "Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA).

Executive Summary of the Institutional Development Plan (IDP)

The Govt. of Andhra Pradesh sanctioned 10 new Govt. Degree Colleges in the state vide G.O. Ms No.131, dated 27-07-2008 and proceedings of Commissioner of Collegiate Education, A.P, Hyderabad, No.402/Admin-1-2/2008, dated 31-07-2008. Govt. Degree College, Parkal is one of them started during the Academic Year 2008-09 in the premises of Govt. Junior College, Parkal. The college was affiliated to Kakatiya University, Warangal offering the undergraduate courses like B.A (History, Economics and Political Science), B.Com (General), B.Sc (Botany, Zoology and Chemistry) with intake capacity of 60, 60 and 50 respectively.

The college functioning in the Govt. Junior College, Parkal from 2008-09 to this day. Initially, nine contract lecturers and principal on fill aditional charge were working from 2008-09 to 2011-12. The regular principal was posted on 17-10-2010. At present eight regular faculty members are working and two non-teaching staff working on outsourcing. The regular principal was retired on 31-10-2014, the senior most faculty member is working as principal on full aditional charge. The college has been alloted 5 acres of land, the alienation is under process.
