Government Degree College, Paloncha was established in the year 1991 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh as a dream of the people of the scheduled area to cater the higher educational needs of the poor and marginalized. It was started in the premises of local Government Junior College building and worked in shift system from its inception till 2006 and shifted to present new building. The motto of the institution, Nahi Gnanena Sadrusham is taken from a Sloka belongs to fourth chapter of Bhagavad Gita, it means wisdom is majesty pure and divine. Across the period of time, the institution has made its own mark through consistent service to the poor.
Government Degree College, Paloncha had in its humble beginning in 1991 offering only B. Com, B.A course with meager strength of about tens of students. The college has taken nearly two decades to flourish and introduced Science course in Telugu medium from 2009. In the academic year 2016-2017 the science course, B.Sc. has introduced with English and Telugu medium. In accordance with UGC guidelines and state government directions the institution offering all the courses with the choice based credit system (C.B.C.S) from the academic year, 2016-17. The institution has been following the curriculum executed by the affiliating university, Kakatiya University, Warangal and Commissionerate of Collegiate Education, Telangana.
Government Degree College, Paloncha has been providing quality higher education at an affordable cost to the rural youth from far. During the 1st cycle of NAAC accreditation in the year 2016 the college has got 1.86 and got NAAC C Grade and now the institution is preparing for the 2nd Cycle of NAAC Assessment and Accreditation.
The institution framed with in demarcated Motto, Vision, Mission and Core Values that reflect the uniqueness as per the needs of the students and value orientation to the downtrodden people residing in surroundings of the college.
