            Indira Priyadarshini Govt. Degree College for Women, Nampally,Hyderabad  a sterling landmark of Higher Education in the district of Hyderabad is established in the year 1981  with the prime motive of ensuring quality education within the reach of poor and down trodden urban students hailing from all the corners of the district.

            The college has been inculcating the most pragmatic and idealistic education to more than 1400 students In the wide spectrum of Science, Arts and Commerce, taught in English, Telugu and Urdu media. The college grew by leaps and bounds in the initial stage and successfully completed the journey of thirty five  years with Eight Under Graduate, four Post Graduate Courses and ten certificate programmes. The Collective vigor of these programmes has been reckoned with the re- accreditation of B status by the NAAC.

            The institution stands on an eleven –acre campus, shared by Junior College and school which is donated by erstwhile Nizam Dynasty, towards the education of young under privileged women.  An exclusive 5 acres of land is allotted for the degree college and the building was constructed with the Rs 95 lakhs from the MPLAD funds.

             The institution had a humble beginning in old building with few teachers and about 300 girls. The institution emerged with an excellent infrastructure, Buildings, Laboratories and High end committed and dedicated faculty striving for their student success. The college has around 1400 students. The permission for intake for entry level is 830 .From the academic year 2016-17 admissions are made through online system. With three decades of existence the college is fulfilling the responsibility of empowering the women of minority and other weaker sections.

                        The college offers wide array of facilities and student support services ranging from, labs to research facilities, grounds to gymnasium, class rooms to knowledge centres. The institution has become a sacred icon to the students of the past generation and endeared place of learning to the contemporary students and public of the region.
