Background of the College . . .
The Government Degree College, Mahabubabad was established in 1984 by the Government of Telangana with B.A(H.E.P) T/M and B.Com (Gen) T/M in the sprawling 11 acre campus near Railway and Bus stations in the heart of the town to serve the needy, poor and marginalized sections of the society. The College is affiliated to Kakatiya University, Warangal, which is 62 kilometers away and famous for the Thousand Pillars Temple built by the Kakatiya rulers. Later in the Academic year 1998-1999 B.Sc(M.P.C) T/M, B.Sc(B.Z.C) T/M and Restructured courses in B.A(C.A), B.Com(C.A), B.Sc(B.Z.C.A) and B.Sc(M.P.Cs) were introduced. A highly experienced Principal, 26 well experienced Lecturers (10 Ph.ds, 3 M.Phils, 7 NET/SLET) and 11 Non Teaching faculty render their best for the over all development of the students on the campus. 11 well furnished Labs(including ELL), spacious Library, e-Class rooms, Auditorium, well arranged Zym, Waiting Halls, TSKC, MANA TV, RED RIBBON CLUB, 2 NSS UNITS, Women Empowerment Cell, Sadhana (Readers' Club) spacious play grounds along with other suitable infrastructure cater to the needs of students. 99% of the students who take admissions at this college belong to S.C/S.T/B.C categories and commute from the nearby villages. The Alumni of the college are serving in and abroad India, across a broad spectrum of the society, bringing laurels to their alma mater.
