22, dated: 28-02-2009.
· Located in the mandal of Garla; being run in Govt. Junior College building, Garla, Mahabubabad District
· Affiliated to kakatiya University, Warangal.
· Faculty with research experience and relevant teaching experience.
Mahabubabad is the Head Quarters of Garla Mandal,Mahabubabad District of Telangana State. It is popularly known as City of business , consisting of rich resources of Iron ore and surrounded by Coal mines and . The distance from Garla to Mahabubabad District Head Quarters is 30 kms. The total population of Garla town has been found to be more than 12000. The Garla mandal is located in the Agency area consisting of 70% Traibal people.
The literacy rate is very less in Garla area. The total literacy rate is 50% . The male literacy rate is 57% and female literacy rate is 43% whereas the district literacy rate is 67%. The students are socially deprived and unable to go cities to pursue higher education courses such as B.A., B.Sc., and B.Com. Consequently, the Government of Andhra Pradesh started new Govt. Degree College in Garla in the Academic year 2009-10.
Government Degree College, Garla is thankful to the Department of Higher Education and the Commissioner of Collegiate Education, A.P., Hyderabad who have extended their full support in establishment of new college in 2009 . The stake holders like students, parents, industry, political and administrative executives have been extending their encouragement for the development of the college.
The college is determined to strive hard to meet the expectations of Higher Education in offering quality education to the students and the parameters proposed by the “Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan” (RUSA).
The college is affiliated to kakatiya University, Warangal vide Lr.No.395/CDC/KU/2013, dated 18-08-2013. The kakatiya University allotted 468 Code to the college in march-2010.
