As there were no openings to pursue higher education in this remote area and to channelize the energy and intellect of the youth, philanthropists have taken a bold step in 1984 to start a college. Since then, the institution has been relentlessly toiling hard by following the great saying of Swami Vivekananda on Education, “We want that education by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased,  intellect is expanded and by which one can stand on one’s own feet”.

Majority of the students are from socially and economically weaker sections of the society. In the beginning of the academic year, the students with rural background find it difficult to cope with the courses they choose, but they get into the groove owing to the relentless efforts put in by the staff. Natural talents of rural students like cultural activities and sports are tapped more effectively.
