              Government Degree College, Mahabubabad

 The Government Degree College, Mahabubabad was established in the year 1984 by the then Department of Higher Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh in 11 acres of own premises in asbestos roofed sheds near Railway station and Bus stand in the heart of the town. It offers Undergraduate courses viz. B.A, B.Com and B.Sc in both conventional and restructured categories to cater to the needs of the socially and economically backward students of this region. During the last three decades the college has churned out, on an average about 220 students per year, successfully, who have settled down as Government, Private employees and entrepreneurs providing employment opportunities to others and have brought laurels to themselves and to their alma mater.

The college is affiliated to Kakatiya University, Warangal and is accorded with 2(f) and 12(b) status by U.G.C., New Delhi. In the year 2006, a large ‘U’ shaped permanent RCC building was constructed to accommodate the laboratories in the departments of Sciences and Computers. At present the college is offering seven Undergraduate courses and hosting the Kakatiya University P.G. center with six courses. As per the guidelines of the Commissioner of Collegiate Education, Government of T.S., prior to the bifurcation of the state, the college prepared a detailed report in the UGC format for obtaining autonomous status and submitted the same to the Kakatiya University on 16-04-2013. The college was accredited by the NAAC with “B” grade in the year 2008 in its 1st Cycle of NAAC Accreditation and “B” with CGPA 2.44 in its 2nd Cycle of NAAC Accreditation.

Several ancillary units viz: Two National Service Scheme (N.S.S.) units, Telangana Skills and Knowledge Centre(TSKC), Women Empowerment Cell, Career Guidance Cell, Mana TV, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Eco-Club, Consumer Club, Red Ribbon Club, Readers Club, Cultural Club are functioning on the campus to provide wide range of exposure to the students in the areas of personality development, communication skills and domain knowledge for achieving equity and gender equality among the students. Almost all the students of UG Courses belong to socially and economically backward sections of this region and about 90 percentages of students commute from nearby villages. The college is hosting Kakatiya University P.G center with six Post Graduation courses temporarily.
