HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

            The college was established during the year 1984 with traditional courses in social science i.e., B.A and B.Com.

The services of the following faculty were rendered from the establishment of the college.

At present Smt. P. Sumalatha is incharge of the department serving in the department from Feb 15 2021 to till date.

COURSES OFFERED

BSc MPC was introduced in the year 2009.

BSc MPCs was introduced in the year 2016.

ABSTRACT OF CRITERION-WISE ACTIVITIES:

CURICULLAR ASPECTS:

      The curriculum taught in this institution is in accordance to the syllabus prescribed by the Department of Mathematics, Osmania University, Hyderabad.

            Coverage of syllabus is being reviewed in the departmental meetings held at regular intervals.

7. Guest Lectures/ Extension Lectures.

Assignments

            To inculcate the study culture among the students, assignments were given periodically.

            Assignments made the students to read and write the subject in a detailed way. It enables the students to have knowledge of the subject.

The following assignments were given to the students.

Seminar presentation

            The department of Mathematics encouraged the students to actively participate in the seminar presentation. The presentation of seminar allows the students to increase the analytical skills of the subject. To present a seminar the student needs to have a good knowledge of the subject. This work helps the students to develop teaching and presentation skills.

Quiz Competition

• To inculcate a healthy competitive spirit, the students were divided into different groups and quiz competition was conducted .
• The students responded with great Zeal and enthusiasm.

TEACHING LEARNING AND EVALUATION

Teaching

Teaching plan is prepared for teaching. Faculty members take the classes according to the time table. After admitting the students into 1^st year programme, bridge/orientation classes are conducted to bring all the students of 1^st year to auniform level. Seminar presentations, group discussions, quiz programs are added to the normal teaching practices.

Learning

To encourage independent learning in addition to class room learning some study projects are given to the students. Assignments are given to increase the students learning capacity. Previous year question papers are given to the students. To make the students acquire additional knowledge, guest lectures are arranged.

Evaluation

This is an important process of feed back from student through which the faculty member will assess the level of understanding of the student with regard to the subject. This is done by regular conduct of tests. This will reveal the difference between the slow and advanced learners.

Orientation/Bridge Classes

For first year students in the beginning of academic year orientation/bridge classes are conducted for a week so that the students who are weak in the Mathematics subject will be brought to the required level to understand the subject and they can compete with the other students in the class.

The department was well established with labs, Staff room with sufficient equipments.

DEPARTMENTAL LIBRARY:

The college has a well established library and its serves the students community by lending the text books and reference books. Apart from the college central library the department of Mathematicspossess a departmental library. This library of department helps the students by lending text books.

STUDENT SUPPORT AND PROGRESSION

• The department of Mathematics stands in forefront in supporting the students in a human approach.
• The department conducts career guidance classes.

• Lecturers  were also invited to give lectures, so that the students of the department are psychologically made strong.

Remedial coaching      

The faculty of department of Mathematics conducted several remedial coaching classes to the average and below average students.

Career guidance

   All the final year students were assembled in the class room by the members of Mathematics faculty and discussed with them about their future plan of action with regards of continuing higher education after successful completion of U.G. courses.

Departmental meetings

            The department very often conducts departmental meetings. In the departmental meetings various aspects of the department such as coverage of syllabus, need of extra periods to be taken to cover the syllabus, remedial classes to be taken for the needy students,& conducting internal exams.
