Workshop
The workshop is conducted in collaboration with “PRR Biotech innovations ltd.”, Hyderabad on “plant tissue culture techniques”. This workshop was taken up to make the students aware of basic tissue culture techniques. The students have actively participated in the workshop. They prepared media, learnt sterilization techniques and have learnt the usage of laminar flow and inoculation.

It also has wide practical applications. Brief report on visit to Vegetable Research station: The field trip was aimed to enlighten students on the techniques of Vegetable growing, propagation by vegetative methods and also to make them aware of different methods of biological control of plant diseases. The students became well aware of various techniques involved in growing of vegetables and on methods of identifying the best quality vegetables and also about various biological control methods adopted to control pests and various diseases.

Brief report on “Gardening techniques workshop”: The Department of Botany in collaboration with Agri Horticulture Society, Public gardens, Hyderabad has organised a three-day training programme on “Gardening techniques” between 13th to 15th February, 2017. The students were given training in various gardening skills like – vermicompost preparation, nursery bed preparation, potting, repotting, propagation of plants by layering, grafting and also on various techniques to prevent the incidence of diseases. Around 30-35 students have enrolled in the programme and have participated enthusiastically. Certificates were given away after the completion of the programme.
