DEPARTMENT OF MICRO BIOLOGY

SALIENT FEATURES OF THE MICROBIOLOGY DEPARTMENT

  • The department was established in 1998-99.
  • The department has one Assistant Professors, who is a AP-TS SETqualified and Ph.D holder having14years of  research and teaching experience.
  • We have published a good number  of (23) publications in national and international peer reviewed journals
  •  In addition to regular teaching aids , ICTtechnology, Digital classroom teaching , Online mode of teaching  is used regularly.
  • Teaching practices involve using of  Visual Charts and PPTs , OHP, interactive, lecture mode etc
  • A certificate course was organized on bioinformatics, Microbial instrumentation techniques to develop technical skills and employability to students.
  • Departmental library is maintained.
  • The Departmental Library has reference Books, Paper Clippings, Previous Question Papers, Question Banks etc., which are kept for students usage
  •  Students  are  involved in Study projects and field based projects
  • Assignments are given to the students.
  • Conducting students’ seminars on important topics.
  • Organizingfield trips , extension lectures, workshop relevant to the subject.
  • Faculty members participated in Refresher and Orientation courses.
  • The microbiologySubject results in the semester  exams are at an average of 97% this  year.
  • The Department provides additional curricular modules to the students.
  • Group discussion, Elocution,Quiz Programmes, food festivals, poster presentations are conducted.
  •  Counselling is given to the students so that they would overcome personal as well as career problems.
  • Our department organized free blood grouping camping and health awareness to students
  • Student profile and ward counselling were carried out in the department.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

  • The Department of Microbiology was established in the year 1998-99 by the Government under Commissionerate of Collegiate Education.
  • T.Nagendra kumar, Dr.N.Harikrishna, M.Shyam Sunder are the former incharges of the Department.
  • Presently  Dr.P.Pallavi, are  lecturers working  in the Department
  • Presently Dr. P.Pallavi is the incharge of Department and Assistant Professor in Microbiology.
  • The Department has well equipped Labs with ample number of instruments , Charts, Slides, Research Microscope, number of Compound Microscopes, Centrifuge, Hot Air Oven etc., for performing the practicals related to Syllabus.
  • Since the establishment, the Department is acquiring material and equipment needed to conduct the Practicals.
  • The facultyofMicrobiology Department consists of one Assistant Professor with 14 years of  teaching experience and other experienced faculty.
  • The result in the subject of Microbiology in the University Examinations is at an average of 97% this year.
  • The departmental library has reference books, paper clippings, previous Question Papers, Question Banks etc. which are kept for the use of students.
  • Teaching practices involved using of bio-visual charts,OHP, Lecture, Interactive and PPTs etc.
  • The department conducts extension lectures every year by inviting eminent persons like professors, Lecturers and Readers.
  • The students are evaluated regularly by conducting Tests, Assignments, Seminars and Quiz programs.
  •  Slow learners are treated with extra care by taking remedial classes.
