DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE

 The College was established in the year 1956 with P.U.C. (Pre-University Course) and the Department of Political science was started in the same year to teach Political science of P.U.C.(Arts)  students. It is largest department in faculty of social sciences. The Department has become a full-fledgedone with the introductionof B.A (EPP, HEP, HTP — History, Economics,Political Science,Public Administration and Telugu as optional subjects) in the academic year 1958-1959.

Since the Introduction of Political Science subject in the college, eminent personalities who are authority on the Subject have rendered their valuable services to the department molding the future of thousands of students, who pursued their studies in this college and also for the multi-faceted development of  the college.

History:

Sri.G. Venkaraiah has been a successful lecturer at this college. The Department of public administration was started in the year 1959. He also taught Public Administration from 1959-1973.After 1973,he served as Principle in various Degree colleges and he be came the Regional Joint Director of Higher Education, AP. Dr. M. Satyanaryana Rao has who served this college, also held various posts in Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad. He authored textbook titled “MODERNPOLITICALANALYSIS” in Telugu medium for P.G.Students.

Sri.A Dharma Reddy worked in this Department in year1973.He served as t he Principal also. His period as the Principal is treated as the GOLDEN ERA, in the history of this college. Sri. K. Venkateshwar Rao Served as Principal (FAC) of this College.

The eminent faculties like Sri. Shukul Prasad,Sri. D. S. Peramandulu,Sri. N. J. James, Sri. K. J. Viaya Rao, Sri. B. Thirupathaiah, Sri.G.Janaki Rama RaoandSri.R.GopalRaohasworkedinthisdepartment.Sri. P. Veeresham worked in this Department between 1983-1995.He authored a textbook title “International Relations” inTeluguforB.A.-III (Paper-IV).

Dr.K. Hussain working in this department has been awarded as The Best Teacher(Yuvatharangam -2015) and State Level NSS The Best Progrmme Officer. The Best Teacher Award-2018 from the Government of TELANGANA.


COURSE OUTCOMES

BA (CBCS) Political Science

  • Understanding of  government institutions, electoral processes, and policies in a variety of countries around the world and the ability to compare the effectiveness or impact of various political arrangements across countries.
  • Knowledge of some of the philosophical under pinnings of modern politics and government and the legal principles by which political disputes are often settled.
  • Understand the changes in patterns of political behaviour, ideas and structures.
  • Assess how global, national and regional developments affect polity and society.
  • Develop the ability to make logical inferences about social and political issues on the basis of comparative and historical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of key theories and concepts, historical developments, organizations,  and modern issues in international relations.
