                   Govt. Degree College, Kalwakurthy, Nagarkurnool (Dt.) is one of the new colleges established by Govt. of Telangana in 2008  to cater to the educational needs of the marginalised and backward sections of the society in Higher education.   It is a co-educational institution.  It enables the needy men and women students to pursue undergraduate courses in Arts, Commerce and Science groups. But for this college, many eligible students would not have got an opportunity to continue their studies in formal education given their socio, economic and academic family backgrounds in the rural mandals of the backward district of Nagarkurnool.  It is a boon to both men and women students of the deprived sections of not only Kalwakurthy mandal but also the neighbouring mandals like Amangal, Veldanda, Midjil, Tadur, Talakondapally, Utnoor, Thimajipet ,Vangoor,Charakonda and Urkonda peta Mandals of Nagarkurnool district and Dindi and Davarakonda Mandals of the neighbouring border district of Nalgonda.
