The Department of Economics was established since inception of the college i.e.1973 with a noble objective of providing quality education to the students by imparting knowledge and inculcating proper attitudes towards life and society. Economics as a subject is an important and useful branch of knowledge for proper understanding of the various economic activities of  a nation. Economics plays a vital role in the life of mankind. With reference to the views of economists and nature of the subject our department has framed certain objectives which enable the students to understand and analyze the functions of the economy.

Vision:

To enable the students to understand the concept of sustainable economic development and inculcate the values of economic equality, social justice among the students to maintain the social harmony.

Mission :

To Involve the students in teaching learning process by student’s research projects / field trips/ group discussions and student’s seminars to understand the socio – economic conditions of the society in a better way.

Objectives:

1. To enable the students to understand the basic concepts of economics.
2. To provide theoretical explanation and practical solution to various economic problems.
3. To promote the idea of global citizenship by making awareness on think globally and act locally.
4. To provide comprehensive understanding on economic problems such as inflation, trade cycles, theories of distribution, international trade and social accounting.
5. To equip the students to analyze the problems and theories of economic development.
