Kakatiya Government College, Hanumkonda, a historic city earlier known as Orugallu, a capital of Kakatiya dyanasty, was established in 1972. It is one of the premier higher education institutions in the country duly accredited by NAAC. The Kakatiya Government College is affiliated to Kakatiya University Warangal and it has been granted 2(f) and 12(b) by the University Grants Commission. The institution offers its peerless services to the students of underprivileged families of the rural and urban milieu. Spread in 5 acres of campus with Bio-Diversity Park. It consists of 3 Blocks to facilitate 2,905 students of U.G. Courses and 600 of Post Graduate Courseswith 82 fulltime teachers. It has got 18 Academic Departments.

Majority of the staff have possessed M. Phil and Ph.D degrees. Many of them have completed Minor/ Major research Projects. Though actively engaged in the academic work, the staff have also authored Textbooks and have a considerable count of publications in reputed Journals. The teaching staff have been active as the members of  BoS/ paper setters/ Examiners in Universities and Autonomous colleges. The staff has been honored with awards for excelling in their chosen fields. Equipped with latest technical knowledge, they have made the ICT learning easy and prepared the required online material like videos and audios that are uploaded on the You tube.

The college has well-furnished, well-ventilated and spacious Classrooms/Lecture Halls with ICT facilities. Science Labs are equipped with necessary advanced scientific apparatus for academic and research purpose. The college has Computer Labs with high end Configured Systems with high Speed Internet Facility (wired and wi-fi) made available to the staff and the students. The English Language Lab has been well equipped to provide students an opportunity of experiential learning. The college Library is fully automated and it has High-speed Internet, Wi-Fi facility to help the students read the books online. The college has well established and functioning Competitive Examination Cell to cater to the higher educational and career needs like Civil Services of the students. 

The Physical Educationdepartment is rich with Indoor Gym, Outdoor Sports and Games, large playground, 3 Open Gymnasia, Shuttle Court, Volleyball, Kabaddi and all other games. The Seminar Hall of the college is Air-Conditioned with enough seating capacity with an LCD Projector and Public Address System. There are two NCC and 3 NSS units. The college has 3 RO plants for safe drinking water.
