As a discipline Public Administration originated and developed in USA in 19 TH  century onwards. In India, we should bear n mind administrative studies preceded the formal instruction in the subject of Public Administration in the colleges and universities. The teaching of Public Administration in India began as part of teaching  in the subject of political science in 1930s. When Lucknow University first included Public Administration as a compulsory paper in MA Political science syllabus. Madras University was the first in the country to introduce a diploma course in Public Administration as early as in 1937 Nagpur Universitywas the first one in India to setup a separate department of Public Administration and local self government in 1949. With this, Public Administration acquired full a academic legitimacy for the first time in the country. In 1954, the Indian Institute of Public Administration was established in New Delhi on the recommendation of the American expert in Public Administration Paul H. Apple by’s report. In 1958 the Indian School of Public Administration was setup as a part of Indian Institute of Public Administration Lucknow University was also the first Institute post graduate Degree course in Public Administration, 1959. In 1987 Public Administration was included as a full independent subject in the list of subjects for the civil services examination. Public Administration discipline was introduced as one of the Co-equal optional at under graduate level with the establishment of Kakatiya Government College in 1972. Public Administration is a subject which stands on its own. It easily blends with any subject in order to strengthen the other subjects. Most  of the parliamentary democratic countries including India recognize the importance of the subject. Therefore colleges realizing the importance of the subject have  included it as a subject in their curriculum and one teaching the subject to their students. As long as parliamentary democratic values persist in India the importance of Public Administration will remain paramount in Academic Institutions. Human resource management, which is a new interdisciplinary subject, is being offered in this college as one of the main optional at B.A. level as restructured course from 2000-2001 the other optional that are being offered along Human Resource Management and Public Administration are. a.
