The Library at Government Degree College Agraharam has a long history of 32 Years in parallel with the history of the college which was established in the year 1987. It is located at main building in ground floor. It comprises of 936 sqft Area. Our college library is a resourceful and state-of-the art with E-Library systems. It supports the process of college education through providing required reading materials (Print and Electronic) such as Text books, Reference books, Competitive Examination books, PG Entrance books, General reading books, Journals, Magazines, Newspapers, CD-ROMs, e-books, e-journals (N-LIST) and also provides access to Syllabus copies and previous Question papers to the staff and students and opens the doors to the wide world of books which encourages reading for gain of knowledge and pleasure. College library is also used for recreation and leisure as it provides light reading materials like magazines, novels, a huge collection of Telugu and English literature, etc.
 
Our Library is partially automated by using SOUL (Software for University Libraries) Version 2.0 an Integrated Library Management System (ILMS) which was developed by INFLIBNET.  Bibliographical data has been entered into the Library database and provided access to search the Bibliographical information through Online Public Access catalogue (OPAC). DSpace Open Source Digital Library Management software has been using for management of institutional digital repositories.
 
Besides the regular activities of the library, it also organises the Literary competitions for the students, like Quiz, Essay Writing, Crossword Puzzles, Singing, SUDOKU, Book Review, etc... Competitions during the National Librarians Day and National Library Week Celebrations. Library organises Library Orientation programmes to Staff and Students to create awareness on Library for better utilization of the Library’s Print and Electronic Information Resources and encouraging the students and teaching staff to reinforce their Academic and Research pursuits. Organises Special Book Exhibitions on the days of national and international importance, such as Telugu Basha Day, Telangana Basha Day, National Library Week, National Science Day, etc... And also organises Career guidance for PG Entrance and Competitions and World Book and Copyright day, etc...

Library Rules


  1. Library users should enter his/her name, course, semester,  time-in and time-out in Register kept at the entrance.
  2. All personal belongings, such as books, bag, coats, umbrella, personal files, Xerox  materials that do not belong to the library must be deposited in the library counter at the entrance of the library.
  3. Books are issued for staff till semester end and for students period of a Fortnight (fifteen days) in the first instance and if required, the same book can be renewed further one more time for a period of a fortnight each and thus no book will be allowed to be kept with a member beyond thirty days.
  4. Users are required to bring their identity card to borrow the books.
  5. Library cards are not transferable. The borrower card holders should come personally to borrow the books and the authorization is not allowed.
  6. Before borrowing and accepting the books, the borrower has to make sure that the books are in good condition.
  7. Reference books, rare books, bound periodicals may not be issued. Overnight issue is available for only  selected reference books.
  8. The books may be renewed if the same are not in demand or are not reserved by other readers. The  renewal will be done generally on the physical presentation of the books, but in special cases, renewals by post, telephone or by other means of communication may be allowed by the Librarian.
  9. The borrowing facility can be withdrawn or restricted in case of misbehavior of users for their misuse of the library.
  10. Every borrower from the library is responsible for the safe custody and return of the book borrowed by  him/her. In case any book is lost or injured by the member, the member shall replace the book or shall pay the cost of replacement. If a book is one of the volumes of a set, the reader may be asked to replace the whole set.
  11. The person has to pay the fine plus the cost of the books plus processing charges at the time of clearance  from the library.
  12. Readers should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage library resources in any way. If anyone is found doing so, he/she will be charged the full replacement cost of the resource. 
  13. Downloading of undesirable e-resources shall not be allowed and punishable, if violated.
  14. Strict discipline should be maintained in the library. The position of the chairs and Tables should not be  changed or displaced.
  15. Beverages and eatables are not allowed inside the library.
  16. Smoking is not permitted in the library.
  17. Sleeping/ using cell phones/ indulging in discussions/ any other activity detrimental to academics is strictly prohibited in the library.
  18. Staff should take library No-Dues Certificate (NOC) while Transfer/ Deputation/  Superannuation from the college. (While leaving the college, student and faculty should  return books and library borrower’s card without fail, thereafter    NOC will be issued.)
  19. Users are advised not to misplace books on the racks from their original position.
  20. The Library may accept donation of manuscripts, books, periodicals etc. from the donors. Such donations once accepted will become the absolute property of the College.
