Bio-Technology

The Department of Biotechnology Came into existence in the academic year 2001-2002 with the introduction of B.Sc-Biotechnology course as a restructured and self- financed course.  The course is taught only in English Medium.

          The initial intake of students was only 30 but subsequently enhanced to 40.  Dr S.Madhava Rao, Reader in Botany was the in-charge of the Department initially.  It was started as an offshoot of the department of Botany without any separate room for the department.  A class room was made into the Laboratory, which was having only skeletal structure to start with.  But through the years it became fully equipped and a model Biotechnology Laboratory in the entire jurisdiction of  Kakatiya University, it has now all the latest equipment, which are quite sufficient to conduct all the practical experiments of the subject.
