WOMEN EMPOWERMENT CELL
1. Roof Top Cleaning
As per the instructions of Commissionerate of Collegiate Education, Hyderabad, on 21st October, 2021Government Degree College, Chevella has taken up cleaning of the roof top and porticos of the college building and maintenance of campus hygiene before the commencement of the new academic year. As per the instructions of the CCE the roof of the college building are cleaned on first and third Saturdays of every month to avoid leakage and water stagnation on the building roof.
2. Awareness Programme on Women Harassment
The Women Empowerment Cell of Government Degree College, Chevella along with the Chevella She Team has organised a programme for students in the college seminar hall on 10th November 2021. The programme was intended to spread awareness among students about eve teasing and other harassments against women and the assistance provided by She Teams in this regard are clearly explained by the local She Team members. The programme has been attended by all women faculty and students of the college. The programme has been chaired by the Principal Smt M. Manjula.
3.World Water Day
NSS Unit and Department of Sciences of GDC Chevella has organised an awareness programme on World Water Day on 22nd March, 2022. To create a sense of responsibility among students, the department of Sciences has taken initiative and made a power point presentation about the visible impact of invisible ground water and its increasing importance in enriching our lives. The students were explained how we need to work together to sustainably manage this precious resource. The programme has been chaired by the Principal Smt M. Manjula. Staff and students of all disciplines have participated in the programme.
4.Health Awareness Programme- Bhagya
The Coordinator of Bhagya, Dr S. Anuradha, Asst. Prof of Botany in association with NSS Unit Coordinator, Smt N. Jyothi, Asst Prof of Chemistry has organised a health programme for students of GDC Chevella on 26th May, 2022. Post COVID the programme was conducted with a view to spread awareness among the students about the need for proper hygiene, usage of mask, taking appropriate medication etc. Ms Vijaya Lakshmi , Aasha Worker of Chevella Primary Health Care Unit was invited on this occasion to spread awareness and distribute free medicines for common ailments.
5.International Yoga Day
On 21st June, 2022, the NSS Unit of the college has celebrated International Yoga day. Staff and students actively participated in the programme. Some warm up exercises and basic yogasanas were also done on the day. The programme is conducted under the supervision of the college Principal, Sri. J. Mallaiah.
