THE LIBRARY

 

INTRODUCTION

                                   A college is considered as an academic institution of higher learning offering three-year degree courses. In colleges, the library occupies a prominent position and it is an important and integral part of the teaching programme. It is not merely a depository of books, but an active workshop instrument in the production of or original thinking. The aim of college education and college libraries in inter-related. College library extends opportunities for self-education to the deserving and enthusiastic students without any distinction. These libraries develop in each student a sense of responsibility in the pursuit of knowledge.  

ABOUT LIBRARY

                                   Library was instituted with the inception of college in 1981-1982.  It was started with few books.  The library has more than 12000 volumes (Including text and reference Books) and 16 Computers for Digital Library. (With internet facilities).

OBJECTIVES

• Extend support to teaching, learning and research initiatives of the college
• Provide career employment information resources to the users
• Provide access to Internet, OPAC, and e-resources
• Create a suitable ambience for optimum usage of library resources.
• Assist in retrieval of reading material and e-resources.
• Be of service to the neighboring community, senior citizens, and alumni by extending the available information resources Endeavor to meet changing user needs challenges.

ACQUISITION POLICY         

                       Books are purchased under approval of Library Advisory Committee (LAC). Budget is distributed among all the departments. Indents are acquired from the in-charges of all departments. As per the available budget orders are placed with approved book suppliers and books are purchased. The following grants & funds will be utilized for the purchase of library books.

 1. University Grants Commission& Autonomy grant

 2. State Government special budget

 3. Library special fee fund of college

 4. Special fee of self finance courses / Restructured courses

 The committee plays an important role in all library activities. The college library advisory committee consists of the following members.

• To enhance the Library towards Fully Automation.
• To extend Library building for all housekeeping operations of the Library.
• To Subscription of the Journals for all concerned subjects.
• To establish separate building for Digital Library.
• To Increase the collection of Rare Books.

WORKING HOURS OF LIBRARY

• It is kept open from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm on all working days
• The Library is kept open throughout the year except the Holidays.
