Women Empowerment cell was established in the college in December, 2011 as per the proceedings of the Directorate of collegiate Education.
AIMS & OBJECTIVES:
To make colleges safe for students to pursue higher education in a congenial learning environment.
Encourage the ability to think freely, express boldly and decide independently.
To educate girls about gender equality, their rights, economic security, culture and opportunities.
To empower women both at home and society.
To focus on healt5h care and women related issues.
Create awareness against social evils such as foeticide, girl infanticide, and sale of girl child, child labour, child marriages and dowry.
To suggest ways to attain better economic and political status.
They are achieved through different programmes like Seminars, Workshops, Groupdiscussions, Meetings, Counseling, Rallies etc...
An MoU with Gramya Resource Centre, Devarakonda was made in September 2014 and renewed on 31/08/2016 for period of 3 years to promote values of Gender equality, service for the community, promote sustainable environment and to take up programmes for empowering women to enhance prospects for their self-reliance.

1.A webinar titled “Awareness program on IT Act and Safety of Youth organized by WEC and ICC organized on 4/12/2020. Resource person Dr.Rukmini Rao-Executive Director Gramya Resource Center, Hyderabad.
2.An orientation program was organized for girl students through online mode on 8/12/2020.
3.Celebrated Savithribhai phule Jayanthi (3/01/2021) on 4/01/2021 by conducting elocution competitions on online mode.
4.Competitions on the occasion of International women’s day were conducted in singing, essay writing and elocution to the students.
5.A seminar on “Women in Leadership-Achieving an equal future in a covid-19 world” was organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day, 2021 on 9/3/2021. Resource person: S.Suneela, Principal, Telangana Tribal welfare Residential Degree College for Women, Devarakonda.
Interactive session with girl students was organized on 20/08/2019 by WEC & ICCto give orientation towards college facilities and discuss their problems(if any).
Nutrition Awareness program as a part PoshanAbhiyaan was organized by WEC in association with NSS and Department of life sciences.
On the occasion of Bathukamma, state Telangana festival, traditional dress competitions were held for boys and girls by women Empowerment cell.Prizes were distributed to the winners for makingbathukamma , Best bathukamma song and Best traditional dress for boys and girls separately.
An awareness program on cancer was organized by WEC on ‘National Cancer Awareness Day’ on 7/11/2019
A Seminar on the theme “ GENDER SENSITIZATION AND YOUTH FOR CHANGE” was organized by Women Empowerement Cell in coordination with ICC At MKR GDC,Devarakonda on the occasion of 189th Birth Anniversary of SavithriBhai Phule Jayanthi celebrations . A team of Resource persons from Gramya Resource Centre(GRC) Dr.Rukmini Rao-Executive Director, K.Sumalatha, programme Manager, co-ordinators ,E.Chandrakala, A.Bhanu and, Ramu- Child Rights (wings ) coordinator, Anjaneyulu - Member of Child Rights (Wing) were invited to address the students .
Awarenes program on she Teams was organized by Devarakonda police,SubDivision in coordination with WEC,MKR GDC Devarakonda on 6/1/2020.
On the eve of Sankranthi Celebrations, Rangoli Competitions were conducted in the college and many girl students actively participated and proved their talent on 11/01/2020
National Girl Child Day was celebrated on 25/01/2020. General awareness on Girl’s Health, education, hygiene and their role in societal development were imparted to the students.
International Womens Day 8/03/2020was celebrated in grand way by WEC. A Seminar with the theme “IAM GENERATION EQUALITY; REALIZING WOMEN’S RIGHTS” was organized by inviting a panel of advocates Upanishad Vani, Assistant Public Prosecutor, Devarakonda ,Kanaka Durga,Senior advocate ,Gowri Shankar, Bar Association President to address the students about Women rights and various laws protecting Women in India on 10/03/2020.

2.Telangana State festival Bathukamma Celebrations on 6/10/2018 was organized by WEC in college campus.
3.Yuvatarangam 2018-19 college level Rangoli Competitions were organized by WEC on 05/01/2019. .students actively participated and selected for cluster level competitions of Yuvatarangam held at KRR Degree College, Kodad,Nalgonda.
4.A Program on “Employability skills for women”wasorganisedWEC in collaboration with DISHA ,Mahatma Gandhi University on 26/10/2018. Md.Azeez, DISHA Coordinator of MGU addressed the students.
5.“Legal Awareness program on Women Protection Laws” was organized by WEC in association with District Legal Services, Nalgonda on 27/10/2018
6.A psychometric test for girl students of Devarakonda Colleges was conducted by DISHA,MGU with the cooperation of WEC our college on 22/12/2018.
7.WEC organised “Second Nationwide competition for women on Legal Rights” was conducted according to the proceedings of Nation commission for Women, Telangana state Commission for Women and the orders of CCE on 28/12/2018.Cash prizes of Rs.8000/- awarded for I,II,III Prize winners.

Telangana state festival ‘Bathukamma’ was organised by NSS Unit-III and WEC for recreation and to sustain cultural traditions of our state throughwomen.
A ‘Round Table Discussion’ of students on women’s rights and their protection was conducted on Human Rights day, 10thDecember 2014. The table was headed by Dr. Rukmini Rao of Gramya Resource Centre, Hyderabad and Sri B. Maruthi Rao, Principal, MKR Government Degree College, Devarakonda.

Medical Scientist, Australia was the special invitee and Ms. Sumalatha, Coordinator of Gramya Resource Center, Devarakonda spoke and interacted with the students on legal awareness.
A programme to create awareness on SHE TEAMS of Telangana Government was organised by the Anti-Ragging and Disciplinary committees of the college inAugust
2015. The police officials circle Inspector and Sub Inspector of Devarakonda participated and gave assurances of safety to girl students.
Self-defence techniques for women, a programmeorganised by Women Empowerment Cell and Physical Education Department of the college was organised in August 2015.Simple karate techniques of self-defence were exhibited and taught to the girl students.
An awareness programme on Gender Equality was conducted by NSS and WEC of college on collaboration with Gramya Resource Centre, Devarakonda, Nalgondaon 4thDecember 2015 to sensitise the students on genderequality.
Girl Students joined in NCC as cadets for first time in the history of MKR Government Degree College in 2019-20.
Ladies wash rooms/rest rooms was constructed by the college with the funds provided by Sanjeevani Charitable Trust, KondaMallepally, Nalgonda in January 2015
