I.PROFILE
Inception and Growth
The Government Degree College for Women, Nalgonda, an erstwhile monumental feather in the cap of that legendary educational seminary, the Osmania University, is now affiliate to the newly established Mahatma Gandhi University, located in the same town of Nalgonda. The college came into existence in the academic year 1977-78 as a result of the yeomen efforts put in by the elite of the town, their sacrificial commitment and devotion, a materialized visualization of a need for promoting women education in this region of a bulkiest rural population. At present the student strength of the college is 2750 on rolls. The main objective of this institution of a great repute is to impart quality education to the students hailing from in and around the town.
It is located at main building in I st floor with huge space.Our college library supports process of college education through providing required reading materials (Print and Electronic) such as Text books, Reference books, Competitive Examination books, PG Entrance books, General reading books, Journals, Magazines, Newspapers, Rare Books, e-books, e-journals (N-LIST) and also provides access to Syllabus copies and previous Question papers to the staff and students and opens the doors to the wide world of books which encourages reading for gain of knowledge and pleasure. College library is also used for recreation and leisure as it provides light reading materials like magazines, novels, collection of, Telugu and English, Hindi, Urdu literature, etc.
Our Library is fully automated with SOUL 2.0 version . Total bibliographical data has been entered into the Library database and provided access to search the Bibliographical information through Online Public Access catalogue (OPAC). D-Space Open Source Digital Library Management software has been using for management of institutional digital repositories.
Our college library subscribed to INFLIBNET N-LIST to access to 31,35,000 eBooks and 6000+ National and International E-Journals. User ID’s andpasswordshave been provided to the all staff and Students to browse the E-resources 24*7 and 365 days. Our Library also registered to National Digital Library of India which was developed by IIT- Kharagpur to access to its Digital Documents.
Besides the regular activities of the library, it also organises the Literary competitions for the students, like Quiz, Essay Writing, Singing, , Book Review, etc... Competitions will be conducted during the National Librarians Day and National Library Week Celebrations. Library organises Library Orientation programmes to the Students to create awareness for better utilization of the Library’s Print and Electronic Information Resources and encouraging the students and teaching staff to reinforce their Academic and Research pursuits. Organises Special Book Exhibitions on the days of National and International importance, such as Telugu Basha Day, Telangana Basha Day, National Library Week, National Science Day, etc... And also organises Career guidance for PG Entrance and Competitions and World Book and Copyright day, etc...

The patrons of library include all the students on roll, teaching faculty and non-teaching staff. It has 2750 Under Graduate students, 67 teaching and 15 non teaching staff to serve.
Library Timings:-
a) On Working Days: The college library is kept open to the students
and staffs from 10.00 am to 5 pm.
b) On Holidays: The library will remain closed on General Holiday,
National, Gazetted and Local holidays.
